13. A picture of myself with farmer's market bounty
ROLL 338 | FRAME 01
Martha, Brooklyn, August 2021.
I went to undergrad for film. As much as I love the medium, I didn’t enjoy the film set or the type of restricted collaboration that film requires. Right before I graduated I starting engaging with photography. In 2012, Carlos Álvarez Montero saw something in my photography and selected me as one of the people in his residency. I am grateful for this opportunity since it sent me in a path that would lead me to today. It was sweet to receive the invitation to be part of an annual print sale he organizes with his agency, Ojo Mx. It has been 10 years since I started taking photographs and it is fitting to celebrate it by going back to the start.
Enjoy this picture that I took with produce from our farm share last year. I was feeling how much the succulent folds in this tomato mimicked the folds in my body.
