15. A self-portrait in the cold

Martha, Cortland, December 2022.

I took this picture in the coldest day of 2022. The snow beneath my bare feet felt more like fire. I wanted to be wearing only a huipil that used to be my mother’s and knickers that my mother-in-law had just given me. My feet were sore for a week after this picture.
