Martha, Saugerties, November 2022.
At the end of November last year I listened to the Helen Molesworth’s podcast about the life, work, and death of Ana Mendieta. I was filled with anger and frustration but also with kinship towards another Latina immigrant artist in New York. I made this self-portrait as an homage to her and to all the work that she could’ve made that we were cheated out of.
